Will be used to replace the leaking 30-year-old roof of the People Mover bus maintenance facility in Anchorage, Alaska. The new roof will also improve the facility’s overall energy efficiency, saving money on heating fuel costs.

Will reimburse Oregon, Alabama and South Carolina for fixing or replacing highways, bridges and other roadway structures. Costs associated with detours, debris removal and other immediate measures necessary to restore traffic flow in affected areas are also eligible for reimbursement.

Will provide a place for visitors to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island to park their cars and ride the free Island Explorer shuttle bus service to destinations around the park and island. With construction expected to begin in 2014, the system could be fully operational by 2016.

The Wickford Junction commuter rail station will be served by 10 north- and south-bound trains on weekdays and is expected to carry as many as 1,500 riders a day. The rail service to T.F. Green Airport extends the transit system’s existing service 20 miles to the state’s Southeastern communities.

Aims to mitigate the risks of accidents for passengers and transit system workers in the U.S. According to FTA statistics, between 2003 and 2008, 53% of reported rail transit worker fatalities were right-of-way related incidents.

The 10-mile extension will provide a new transportation choice for commuters to the high-tech corridor. The FTA last month approved $900 million in funds for the project.
