Mobitec AB subsidiary in Herrljunga, Sweden, through the Mobitec Brazil Ltda subsidiary in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, signed a supply agreement with a major bus vehicle manufacturer in South America.

The paratransit management system is designed to streamline operations and create improved schedules and routes, allowing the operation to be more efficient with its resources.

The value of the contract amounts to approximately $54 million, with delivery scheduled for summer 2011.

Under the contract, Eurotech will deliver the DuraMAR to Metro in 2010 and 2011, with the option to provide additional routers for public safety vehicles and up to six years of extended warranty support.

The system will be implemented at Nashville's Music City Central transit center and at bus shelters along the city's new bus rapid transit line.

Products ordered include Mobitec electronic information display systems, Mobitec voice announcement systems and Mobitec global positioning satellite control units.

The environmental assessment and preliminary engineering work, which is under way, is slated to be completed in summer 2010.

The Urbalis solution will significantly increase train frequency and transport capacity while ensuring optimal safety, flexible operations and heightened passenger comfort, according to Alstom.

Valued at approximately $60 million, the order will be assembled at company's Plattsburgh, N.Y., plant.

Early construction is expected to begin during late spring 2010. The replacement bridges are slated for completion in 2017.
