SEPTA to pilot ‘QuietRide’ on select cars

Based on customer feedback, SEPTA is introducing the QuietRide car on select trains.

QuietRide is a pilot program intended to improve the experience of riders by transforming a train car full of cell phones, voices and other electronic devices into a soft whisper.

SEPTA’s QuietRide car will be in service for six morning and four afternoon peak, weekday express trains on the Lansdale-Doylestown Line. The first car of each of select trains will be designated as the QuietRide car.

Seating in the QuietRide car will be on a first come first served basis. Passengers will be asked to set cell phones on vibrate or mute and refrain from making or taking calls, wear headphones when listening to audio devices and keep conversations to a minimum using a low voice.

Based on feedback received from employees and customers during the pilot, SEPTA will evaluate whether to continue or expand the program.
