Amtrak to participate in U.S. - U.K. security exchange

ARTICLE TOOLS

Members of the Amtrak Police Department (APD), Amtrak Office of Security Strategy and Special Operations (OSSSO), and British Transport Police (BTP) will jointly patrol several train stations along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, as part of the first major exchange of security and counterterrorism best practices and tactics.

The uniformed British rail police sergeants, constables and superintendent will witness APD and OSSSO tactical units, counter surveillance personnel and K-9 bomb teams during security operations at four different station locations.

The goal of the visit and exchange is to solidify a security partnership, share lessons learned and best policing methods to protect rail passengers and systems on both sides of the Atlantic.
