First Transit awarded NJ Transit contract

First Transit Inc., which is part of Cincinnati-based FirstGroup America, was awarded the ADA paratransit transportation contract for New Jersey Transit's Access Link program. The Region 5 operation is based in Union Township, N.J.

The contract is a three-year agreement that includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet of 87 ADA paratransit buses serving the Newark area, including Essex, Union, Hudson, Somerset and Morris counties.

"NJ Transit 's Access Link team is very pleased to continue our excellent working relationship with the First Transit family in expanding our collaboration to include more of the Northern Access Link service area and treating our customers to enhanced safety and overall service," said Ronnie Siriani, director, ADA Services, at NJ Transit.
