New Britain, Conn.-based DATTCO recently acquired 11 new Van Hool buses from ABC Companies.
The transportation company’s purchase includes three C-Model Van Hool buses for charters – 57 passenger capacity; two Double-Decker Van Hool buses for Charters – 81 passenger capacity; three T-Model Van Hool Touring Buses – 57 passenger capacity; two T-Model Van Hool Experience Fleet Luxury Vehicles – 40 passengers plus lounge and galley; and one Setra Motor Coach Experience Fleet Luxury Vehicle – 56 passenger capacity.
All of the new buses are seat belt-equipped and include automatic fire suppression and tire pressure monitoring. The custom interiors include color combinations selected at the Van Hool factory in Belgium that are signature DATTCO red and gray. Each bus offers DVD and CD players. The touring buses feature XM Radio and headsets at every seat. The Experience Fleet features satellite TV, iPod and computer connections. Like all DATTCO motorcoaches, the new vehicles offer complimentary Wi-Fi and power outlets for mobile computing or battery chargers.
The new additions, with their cleaner-burning engines, offer a 67 percent reduction in noxious gas emissions and a reduction in particulate matter from .2 per million to .01 per million. The increased passenger capacity of the double-decker buses is also a green energy solution, requiring fewer vehicles for regularly-scheduled routes such as DATTCO’s daily line run to Mohegan Sun Casino.
