Miami-Dade launches new BRT service

ARTICLE TOOLS

Miami-Dade County officials will join representatives from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Broward County at the inaugural ceremony of the I-95 Dade-Broward Express routes on Jan. 22, at the Golden Glades Park & Ride's new East Lot.

Fully funded by the Federal Transit Administration and the FDOT, the express buses will offer cross-county commuters rapid transit service between Broward County and downtown Miami beginning Jan. 25 in I-95's express lanes — including the newly opened southbound lanes.

Express, non-stop travel between downtown Miami and park & ride lots adjacent to I-95 at Broward Boulevard and Sheridan Street will be available for $2.35. Customers also can board downtown Miami-bound Broward County Transit express buses at Pembroke Pines' C.B. Smith Park, along Pines Boulevard at University Drive or U.S. 441, the Hollywood Tri-Rail station or the Golden Glades Park & Ride lot.

Passengers will travel in comfort aboard 60-foot hybrid buses that represent the latest in green technology. The new express routes will operate three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening on weekdays only.

Service on the new cross-county 95 Express routes will be free for the first week, from Jan. 25 to 29. For more information, visit 95express.com.
