Daimler announces Setra maintenance classes

Topics will focus on HVAC, electrical, brakes and suspension. Each session will provide attendees with complete hands-on training and in-depth understanding of the Setra TopClass S 417 and its components.

In 2010, Daimler Buses North America will be hosting a series of Setra TopClass S 417 Training Academy classes throughout North America. Topics will focus on HVAC, electrical, brakes and suspension. Each session will provide attendees with complete hands-on training and in-depth understanding of the Setra TopClass S 417 and its components.

The training will be in a classroom setting, and will include practical sessions on a coach. All classes will start at 8 a.m. and end no later than 1 p.m. on the last day. Classroom training is free of charge, but travel and accommodations are not included. Participants are given reduced hotel rates.

Sessions on Advanced HVAC and Electrical will be held March 8-12 in San Francisco; May 3-7 in Calgary; and Nov. 8-12 in Kansas City.

HVAC: Learn to diagnose and repair the Setra Top Class heating and air conditioning system using the onboard diagnostic system. Become familiar with the theory of operation, location and purpose of its components. Hands-on training with the coach is provided. Training materials will be provided.

Electrical: Learn to work with the FPS multiplex system and understand its benefits. You will also learn how to read and repair faulty codes. Reading and understanding the Setra wiring schematics will be addressed. Hands-on training with the coach is provided. Training materials will be provided.

A session on Suspension and Brakes will be held Nov. 29 in San Francisco.

Suspension & Brakes: Learn about air system components, valves, circuits, suspension, lifting, lowering and kneeling, as well as vehicle height adjustments and maintenance procedures. ABS/TCS in detail maintenance, repair procedures on brakes, ABS troubleshooting and diagnosis methods will be covered. Pneumatic and wiring system diagrams will be addressed. Hands-on training with the coach is provided. Training materials will be provided.
