Pilot program to offer free rides to paratransit customers

ARTICLE TOOLS

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — The city's transit department is launching a pilot program to provide free rides to paratransit customers on fixed-route buses.

For a six month period starting July 1, CityBus will allow paratransit-eligible clients who possess a Santa Rosa paratransit identification card to ride for free on any Santa Rosa CityBus fixed route bus.

After a review in January 2011, the city will make a determination as to whether to make the free rides permanent.

As the agency explains on its blog, the more paratransit customers who transfer to fixed route buses, the more money can be saved. To read the full post, click here.
