Va. Tech preps Bus Tracker app for launch

ARTICLE TOOLS

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech computer science students have designed a mobile application that allows students and community members to access bus arrival times.

Using VT Bus Tracker, people can text their location and a Blacksburg Transit route number to the system and receive the bus' estimated arrival time and number of passengers on board.

Blacksburg Transit, the town of Blacksburg, Google Inc. and the Virginia Tech Computer Science Department contributed to the effort, WDBJ7 reports.

To read the VT Bus Tracker blog, see demos or learn more about the app, visit www.bustracker.org.
