Allied Bioscience Services Inc.’s (ABS) recently completed study, conducted by world-renown scientists, offers a practical solution to make buses, trains and offices safer for the transit workforce and the public alike.

The company collaborated with Big Blue Bus in Santa Monica, Calif. to assess the level of contagion/pathogen contamination of the common surfaces in its fleet; test and evaluate the condition of these same surfaces 30, 60 and 90 days after being treated with ABS’s GermMAX patent-pending product; and compare the results of these treated surfaces to the non-treated areas in the remaining buses in the fleet.

GermMAX is a non-visible, long lasting, professionally applied, patent pending coating system that has been under development for over three years. Once applied to surfaces, GermMAX’s proprietary, micro-thin coatings bond to any surface at a molecular level. The coatings are self-cleaning and continuously antiseptic. Once applied, GermMAX eliminates germs on surfaces for months. GermMAX is safe, non-toxic and eliminates bacteria, viruses, germs, and even odors through a durable, environmentally-friendly technology.

After the surfaces were initially analyzed and assessed, ABS staff applied the GermMAX surface coatings throughout the test buses. The same surfaces were tested again after 30, 60 and 90 days of regular transit service, to evaluate the effectiveness of the GermMAX coatings.

After 30 days in service, the surfaces treated with GermMAX were up to 99 percent cleaner than the non-treated surfaces. As a result, Big Blue Bus is displaying the ABS decal on each of the coated buses, promoting each vehicle as a “Healthy Human Habitat.” 

“This new technology from ABS will provide transit employees and passengers alike with a healthier and safer environment,” said Grossman.
