CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The director of Orange Public Transportation told The Chapel Hill News that the number of senior paratransit riders using mobility devices — especially wheelchairs — has risen drastically over the last five years and will continue to rise.

The increase, combined with steep increases in employee healthcare, insurance and retirement costs, the expense of fuel and maintenance and replacement vehicles for aging fleets, will continue challenging local systems. For the full story, click here.
