Top 200 Transit Bus Fleets

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the American Public Transportation Association's EXPO, METRO Magazine expanded its annual Top 100 Bus Fleets Survey to the Top 200 this year. The additional 100 listings added 11,308 more vehicles, compared with 2010, to this year's 75,115 total reported by transit agencies from 43 U.S. states, Canada and Puerto Rico. New York City Transit (NYCT) still holds the top spot with a total of 4,336 vehicles. 

Even with 100 more transit agencies added to this year's feature, New York City Transit still tops the list with 4,336 total vehicles.

The Chatham Area Transit Authority of Savannah, Ga., came in at No. 154 with 92 total vehicles.

With 308 total vehicles, Columbus, Ohio-based Central Ohio Transit Agency came in at No. 64 in 2011.

Toronto's GO Transit jump from No. 51 in 2010 to No. 48 in 2011 and added 31 vehicles to its total.

Atlanta's Georgia Regional Transportation Authority debuted in this year's Top 200 with 176 vehicles.

Indianapolis-based IndyGo returned to the Top 100 at No. 83 in 2011.

Lextran of Lexington, Ky., came in at No. 129 with 112 total vehicles.

Pictured at the College World Series, Metro of Omaha, Neb., entered this year's Top 200 at No. 110.

With 679 vehicles, Las Vegas' Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada came in at No. 32.

Tacoma, Wash.-based Pierce Transit dropped to No. 60 in 2011.

No. 146 Sunline Transit Agency of Thousand Palms, Calif., had 99 vehicles in its fleet.

Reading, Pa.-based Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority came in at No. 135 with 106 vehicles.

Tenn.-based Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority was No. 161 with 86 vehicles.

With a large focus on servicing the University of Florida, Gainesville's Regional Transit System debuted at No. 122.

No. 160, Conn.-based Greater Bridgeport Transit had 90 total vehicles.

Lee County Transit of Fort Myers, Fla. entered the Top 200 at No. 141.

Tied at No. 127, Stockton, Calif.-based San Joaquin RTD reported 117 total vehicles.

Kansas-based Topeka Transit entered the Top 200 at No. 188.
