The U.S. Senate passed an $838-billion tax cut and spending bill to boost the economy on Tuesday by a 61 to 37 vote.
The Senate bill that includes $8.4 billion for transit must now go to conference with the House, which passed an $819 billion version of the bill late last month.
Three Republicans supported the Senate version of the bill, a difference from the House bill, which no Republicans supported.
House and Senate leaders are hoping to send the bill to the White House by the end of this week.
