Chicago's RTA nixes federal funding campaign

CHICAGO — The board of Regional Transportation Authority, which oversees Chicago area mass transit systems, rejected a proposed contract to hire a consulting firm that would work to bring more federal funding to the city. Concerned board members said that it made little sense for the RTA to go it alone in such an effort when the outlook is so bleak for a federal highway and transit bill this year, according to a Crain's report.
