Texas paratransit supplements with taxi service

MIDLAND, Texas — A continuing shortage of bus drivers has forced EZ-RIDER, the public transportation provider in Midland and Odessa, Texas, to partner with a local taxi company to provide service to its paratransit riders.

The service has employed the help of Midessa Transportation for the last two to three months, according to Executive Director Alonda Massey. The taxis are sent out in order to avoid long hours for the paratransit drivers and to prevent cutting the curb-to-curb service for people with disabilities, according to a mywesttexas.com report.
