Vehicle Production Group ceases operation, lays off staff

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Vehicle Production Group (VPG), makers of the MV-1 accessible vehicle, has ceased operation and laid off its staff, according to USA Today. Shutdown of the company, which had a $50 million Department of Energy loan, was not due to lack of orders, but rather the lack of a strong network of dealers that are mobility specialists, former CEO John Walsh said.
