SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Less than a week after the Sioux Falls City Council’s chairman said any increases on Sioux Area Metro's door-to-door paratransit services were "not palatable at all," the councilor now says he plans to back a modest increase, the Argus Leader promoted.

The chairman's about-face came just six days after an internal audit of the city's public transportation system was released to the council. In it is a recommendation to raise paratransit rates to $2.50 a ride from the $2 fee riders have paid since 1996. In August, the City Council voted against raising the paratransit rates by a dollar.
