Mo.-based OATS to switch to fare-based system

The nonprofit transportation and paratransit provider will switch from collecting suggested contributions to implementing a fare system. The provider is making the change so it can balance its fiscal year 2014 budget. Rider contributions make up only 4% of the provider’s revenue.

Veolia's Calif. Bay Area contract extended

Under the new contract, which is effective July 1, 2013, the company will assume additional responsibilities including dispatching duties for a 200 vehicle fleet and employing a Developmental Disability Specialist in its Certification Department, who will bring expertise for eligibility determinations of applicants with cognitive disabilities.
