The “How to Ride RIPTA Workshop” series, held March 5, created for the state’s senior community, was designed to empower the senior community to mobilize and remain independent. All attendees of this travel training program received a free step-by-step “How to Ride Guide.”
Appellate ruling stated that Palm Beach Metro Transportation violated federal labor laws when it reduced workers' hours without negotiating with the local transit union. Nearly 120 drivers could get more than $2 million in back pay.
The service is run through Family Services of Westchester and helps clients coordinate the fastest and most cost-effective means of transportation — be it a local provider like a taxi, a paratransit vehicle or a ride from one of its volunteer drivers.
Formation comes as the Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority is trying to rally support for continued funding for bus services, since a temporary operational subsidy from the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority ran out last year.
This year's conference, held in May, is expected to be well attended and attendees are urged to make their travel plans now, especially considering that the event begins the day after the close of the New Orleans Jazz Festival, one of the busiest times of the year for the city.
