We talk about how escalating gas prices are favorably affecting ridership. Little is said about the other favorable fallout: how the flurry of ridership increases has pushed transit services beyond capacity, forcing agencies to bolster their fleets.
It’s a good sign for the suppliers to the public transit industry who find themselves scurrying to meet public agencies' demand for more equipment -- or at the very least try to speed up deliveries. It’s a public hardship that has turned into a good situation for the manufacturers, and a situation much needed by industry suppliers -- a big boost to the overall economy.
Until next time,
Dan
