Donations are now being sought to help Don Saunier, a long-time bus salesmen based out of Georgia, who is suffering from diabetes-related kidney problems and needs a transplant.

Saunier, 52, has three prospective kidney donors and hopes to have the surgery by this September or October. Medicare will cover 80 percent of the cost of kidney transplant, but donations are currently being raised to help Saunier afford the necessary medications after the surgery, which total $2,000 a month for the first three months and about $500 to $600 a month thereafter.

The Georgia Transplant Foundation will match, penny-for-penny, all money deposited into Saunier’s medication account. Donations can be sent to 410 LaPrade Road, Griffin, Ga., 30223.
