Veolia Transportation announced that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has unanimously approved extension of its Las Vegas contract through September 2011.

On behalf of RTC, Veolia Transportation operates the largest contracted fixed route bus system in the United States, including the “MAX” bus rapid transit (BRT) service and “Deuce,” double-decker buses that run along Las Vegas’ famous Strip. The system includes two facilities and a fleet of approximately 400 vehicles.

Veolia Transportation has operated bus service and maintenance for the RTC since 1993. The RTC system averages approximately 45 passengers per service hour and the Deuce service averages more than 85 passengers per hour.
