On Monday, the Obama Administration announced $856,964 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds for transit improvements in Alabama.

“Through the Recovery Act, we are creating jobs today in Gadsden, and across America while building a better, more sustainable economy moving forward,” said Secretary LaHood. “Rebuilding the nation’s transportation infrastructure is a key part of a prescription for economic strength.”

The city of Gadsden will use the funds for the purchase of four 30-foot passenger vehicles, acquisition of equipment and services and the construction of two covered transfer facilities.
