The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) terminated a garage superintendent and intends to discipline other employees for falsifying records relating to the Defensive Driving Course that all employees are required to complete before driving Metro vehicles.

Metro records show that some number of maintenance employees had successfully completed the online defensive driving course when, in fact, they had not.

A review is under way across Metro to determine if the infractions are isolated to one garage or are more widespread.

In a letter, Acting President/CEO George Greanias emphasized that rebuilding trust and confidence begins with Metro.

"When it comes to ensuring passenger safety and restoring credibility in Metro, we all have a role to perform," Greanias wrote.
