GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.MLive.com reports that the Michigan Department of Transportation’s new economic modeling study shows that for every 10 jobs created in the public transit sector, six additional jobs are created in the rest of the economy. The study also shows that The Rapid creates $43 million in "social benefits" — the money saved by riders that they then spend on other things — in addition to the $31 million spent to operate the system.
