NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) voted unanimously to end its contract with Nassau County to run Long Island Bus, opening the door for privatization of the service beginning next year, according to the Long Island Press.
The decision follows a recent public hearing where riders voiced opposition to the privatization plan. Nassau County is studying final proposals submitted last month by Veolia, First Transit and MV Transit. For the full story, click here.
