Montreal advocates want cheaper transit for the poor

MONTREAL — The Gazette reported that anti-poverty groups launched a campaign for cheaper fares for the impoverished, and won support from Vision Montreal leader Louise Harel, who called for a new fare category for the poor.

However, the Société de Transport de Montréal said it could not afford to pay for such a program, which it estimates could cost about $33 million annually. For the full story, click here.
