Bus drivers call for SEPTA to move mirrors for safety

PHILADELPHIA — Bus drivers are urging Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) to reposition outside rearview mirrors, saying they create a blind spot that endangers pedestrians, especially during left turns, philly.com reported. Three pedestrians were killed in 63 accidents with SEPTA buses in 2012.

While transit system officials agree that mirrors can create temporary blind spots, they have resisted refitting mirrors on their fleet, saying that could cause other safety issues. For the full story, click here.
