CHICAGO — The Chicago Tribune reported that student riders returning to school are experiencing glitches with paying fares this week as Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) begins rolling out Ventra, its new fare card system. Student Ventra cards are displaying $0 balances after money was loaded onto the cards online.

CTA officials told the paper that they are fixing glitches as they hear about them, and that transit system personnel are being instructed to allow the Ventra customers who this encounter problem to board. Ventra is scheduled to replace the current CTA and Pace fare-collection systems by 2014. For the full story, click here.
