DETROIT — The Detroit Free Press reported that City of Detroit bus drivers are rallying today to protest the lack of police protection and demand safer buses after eight drivers were attacked by riders and hospitalized in the past nine months.

A union representative told the Press that the rally is also being organized to let riders know that drivers are just as frustrated about crowded buses and buses running late. He added that drivers hope the rally inspires Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr to take steps to improve safety. For the full story, click here.
