Posted on November 7, 2013

Fla.-based Palm Tran, Palm Beach County’s public transportation agency, set fixed-route ridership records in fiscal year 2013, with a total annual ridership of 12,018,232.

The figure marks a 4% increase compared to the previous record total of 11,579,076 set last fiscal year.

This is the fifth consecutive year that fixed-route ridership has increased and the fourth consecutive year that new ridership records were set.

Fixed-route weekday ridership averaged 41,006 passengers for the fiscal year, breaking last year’s record of 39,288. Palm Tran ridership over the past 10 years has increased by over 17,000 passenger trips per weekday and five million annual riders.

These ridership increases are system-wide and can be seen on most Palm Tran routes.
