ATHENS, Ga. — As more and more apartment complexes add private shuttle services to compete with more centrally-located complexes near the University of Georgia, Athens Transit’s ridership is taking a blow even after enhancing services to the university, Flagpole reported.

In total, 13 complexes are running shuttle services, some at double the frequency that Athens Transit offers. So-called weekend “drunk buses” are also gaining popularity, particularly since the transit agency stops running between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. For the full story, click here.
