PEQUANNOCK, N.J. — Police were able to stop an NJ Transit bus that had blown a tire and caught fire without the driver realizing what had happened, The Record reports.

New Jersey Department of Transportation officials said friction from the flat tire caused the bus to catch fire. After signaling the driver to pull over to the right-hand lane, police officers entered the vehicle and told the driver the bus was ablaze.

The driver, who told police he was recently diagnosed with diabetes and hadn’t eaten all day, was conscious but unresponsive. No one was injured and no passengers were on board. For the full story, click here.
