Seven days a week, 365 days a year, SamTrans Route 17 makes its way along the winding roads and past the scenic views of the California coast in San Mateo County. Situated sometimes just yards from the shores of the Pacific Ocean in the San Francisco Bay Area, Route 17 is one of seven fixed-route bus lines that serve several small coastal communities, including Half Moon Bay, Montara, Moss Beach, Pacifica and Pescadero.

Va. U. students lose free transit

Virginia Commonwealth University will begin charging students for passes to ride the Greater Richmond Transit Co. system, due to increased enrollment. Some students are concerned about the unexpected added cost as well as the new lack of incentive to use public transportation.

Penn. St. bike path project wins award

The city of Altoona, through the Department of Transportation's Pennsylvania Community Transportation Initiative, was awarded $300,000 to install the path between the Ivyside and downtown campuses for safety purposes and to promote walking and biking as alternative means of transportation.
