TTC’s plan highlights safety, customer service

Calif.’s Foothill Transit moves to in-house management

Executive board voted 5 to 0 in favor of establishing the agency’s first ever in-house management team and to amend the agency’s contract with Veolia Transportation. Will transition most of the current management team to Foothill Transit’s employ. The change is expected to save the agency approximately $1 million a year.

Webinar to offer safe lift management tips

The free web seminar, “Lifting Your Vehicles Correctly and Safely,” will be presented by SCHOOL BUS FLEET, METRO Magazine, and Rotary Lift on June 20 at 1 p.m. EDT. Topics to be discussed will include proper methodology for lifting every type of heavy-duty bus or truck and how to keep lifts in tip-top shape through inspection and maintenance.

FTA releases $3.7B more Sandy relief for transit

Will help the four major transit agencies in New York and New Jersey that sustained the greatest damage from Hurricane Sandy. Nearly one-third of the money is set aside to help the agencies begin investing in resiliency projects to help ensure that their transit assets are better able to withstand future disasters, such as major floods.

S.F. MTA to launch new website

The site will be easier to navigate and mobile device-friendly, designed to work on any smartphone or tablet. It will provide home page access to trip planning, service alerts from both 511 and the agency’s Twitter feed, and a “latest news” section.

Expert suggests Capital Metro revamp fare system

Recommendations include some internal, behind-the-scenes changes that would improve the bottom line but not impact riders. Other recommendations would address customer concerns, such as eliminating the complicated zoned-fare structure for MetroRail and providing more equitable discounts for various pass types.
