Fla. identifies senior transportation as a growing need

LAKELAND, Fla. — Speakers at a transportation planning forum said that the area’s aging population will need improved transit in the next few decades, according to The Ledger.

He added that transportation planning for this group is important because polls show the majority of people over 65 plan to remain in their current residences, the paper reported.

Meanwhile, a planned referendum next year will ask Polk County voters to approve a sales tax increase to improve the transportation system. For the full story, click here.
