N.J. county free senior shuttle celebrates milestone

CAPE MAY COUNTY, N.J. — Cape May County's Fare Free Transportation program celebrated its 40th anniversary last week. The service, which is funded through grant awards from the Casino Revenue Fund and others, was started in 1973 by a small group of private citizens who purchased a surplus military bus to provide elderly residents with transportation, The Press of Atlantic City reported.

The program, has since been expanded to provide free shuttle service to disabled and low-income residents, and also delivers Meals on Wheels, according to the report.
