The GrandLinq P3 will design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new at-grade light rail transit (LRT) system between the cities of Waterloo and Kitchener. The contract is expected to be worth approximately $23 million to AECOM.

The visit highlighted the significant economic benefit that the MTA brings to upstate New York through its Capital Program. Bombardier has built more than 2,000 subway and commuter railcars for the MTA in Plattsburgh since it opened its railcar plant in 1995.

A fleet of 12 six-car Bombardier Innovia Monorail 100 trains originally served three airport terminals, three stations at remote parking lots and a rental car center via a dedicated, dual-lane elevated guideway. Since then, the system has been extended to the North East Corridor rail line, with the fleet expanding to 18 six-car trains.
