Toyota expects to introduce over 100 fuel-cell buses, mainly within the Tokyo metropolitan area, ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The company is partnering with ElDorado National and BAE Systems to deliver five buses to the Palm Desert, Calif.-based agency.

The program currently includes two 22-foot, 22-seat transit buses equipped with nickel-cadmium batteries to meet the power demand of the buses and hydrogen-fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cells to maintain the state-of-charge of the batteries.
Signed an agreement with CALSTART to deploy the vehicle in 2015 with partners BAE Systems, ElDorado National and the university.
