The Mercedes-Benz Future Bus with CityPilot is a semi-automated city bus featuring connectivity plus camera and radar systems with data fusion. The CityPilot is able to recognize traffic lights, communicate with them and safely negotiate junctions controlled by them. It can also recognize obstacles, especially pedestrians on the road, and brake autonomously. It approaches bus stops automatically, where it opens and closes its doors. Cameras scan the road and surroundings, while long and short-range radar systems monitor the route ahead.

The C-train concept, developed by Jacob Innovations, is an automated mass transit mode of elevated lightweight trains with seating room only. The design eliminates need for depots - via capability to travel on upper and lower wheels by switching vertically between tracks and be stored vertically above the tracks. The cTrain system can be built quickly and cheaply with exiting technologies.
