Some New York City subway lines were running with delays because of signal and switch troubles. The MTA said bus service was running with delays across all five boroughs and some had to be detoured because of icy roads.
At a site in Dorchester, Frank DePaola showed Gov. Charlie Baker and reporters the new third rail that workers have been laying down on the above-ground portion of the Red Line’s Braintree branch. The new third rail has a small curvature on its top, so there won’t be a build-up of ice and snow that caused problems for trains last winter.
