The U.S. Department of Transportation has proposed the implementation of a national transportation worker ID system to bolster national security. A national transportation worker ID card would verify the identity of transportation workers, validate background information and account for personnel access and activity. The draft working paper is posted on APTA’s Website at www.apta.com under “What’s New” in “Government Affairs.” The DOT is also looking for comments on the paper, which can be directed to jim.zok@marad.dot.gov
