Ronald L. Freeland has resigned as administrator of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) after four-plus years at the helm. Freeland will step down later this month to become a vice president with Parsons Transportation Group, which has offices in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Freeland accepted the top post with the MTA in January 1997. Previously, he served as chief of the state's Motor Vehicle Administration for 17 months. He has worked for the Maryland Department of Transportation since 1981. Virginia L. White, deputy administrator for transit operations at MTA, will serve as interim administrator.
