Marion C. Blakey was sworn in yesterday as chairwoman of the National Transportation Safety Board. Blakey becomes the 9th chair of the NTSB. For the last eight years, she has been the principal of Blakey & Associates, a Washington, D.C., public affairs consulting firm focusing on transportation issues and traffic safety. Prior to that, she served in five government departments and agencies, and held four previous presidential appointments. Blakey's term as chairwoman ends in September 2003.
