Joseph M. Clapp was sworn in last Thursday as the first administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Clapp was chairman of Roadway Services Inc. and also served as chairman of the Transportation Research Board and the American Trucking Associations Foundation. "I am pleased to have someone with Joe’s extensive background in the motor carrier industry as the leader of our newest agency," said Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta in a statement. "His knowledge, experience and leadership will be a great asset for transportation safety and security."
