The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)renamed its Office of Family Affairs to become the Office of Transportation Disaster Assistance. The name change reflects the broad range of the office's duties since it was established in 1996 and the extension of its services to all modes of transportation covered by the NTSB. During recent accidents, the former Office of Family Affairs worked with survivors, families of victims and people affected in the community.
