Inova installs RIPTA passenger information system

Inova Corporation finished installation of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) passenger information system at the new passenger terminal in Kennedy Plaza. The passenger information system consists of two banks of six 19-inch video monitors and one BusPost information kiosk location in each of the station's 17 bays. The system presents updated schedule, route and departure information, interfacing to the scheduling database as well as an operator workstation. Operators can program automatic promotional and safety announcements as well as send new or predefined text messages to any combination of destinations by bus line, individual display or groups of displays. Inova's system is fully scalable, with capabilities to interface with AVL and GPS systems.
