Riders of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) can now receive free real-time email alerts about Metrorail service delays and disruptions. The "eAlerts" can be sent to email-capable desktop computers, cellular phones, pagers, or personal digital assistants. Customers can find out such information as the duration of a delay on a specific line and in what direction the delay is taking place. When signing up, customers can request which Metrorail lines they wish to monitor, which days of the week and times of the day and the email address(es) at which they want to receive the alerts. For more information, go to www.metroopensdoors.com.
