FirstGroup to acquire Coach USA transit assets

The North American transit division of FirstGroup plc will purchase the operational assets of Coach USA's transit division for $22.5 million. The business to be acquired has an annual turnover of $95 million. Assets from Coach USA's transit division include contracts to operate some 1,200 buses on behalf of transit authorities and other systems in states such as California, Florida and New York and employs an estimated staff of 2,000. The transaction is conditional on approval from affected public authorities.
